Love to hear which CV lenses you have for your Nikon camera. Pete Smith (RIP) tested the CV 40/2 and said it was the sharpest lens for a Nikon he had ever seen. How about you?

I have the 58mm 1.4. A great performer, one of my sharper lenses without being too clinically sharp, nice microcontrast , gets pretty close for focus and fully open has a slightly softer look. A bargain compared to similar lenses in M mount...

I had this too, I used on a Nikon DX body where it gave an 85mm eq.
I agree with the above, plus it's much smaller than the Nikon equivalents.

Another vote for the Nokton 58mm f1.4.

I have a MkI lens and I just use on film cameras (FM, F2A and F2AS).. bought used it quickly became my choice for a standard 50 something.

It reminds me of a late Super Takumar lens, I checked out and the formula looks pretty similar to the Pentax lens, so it has a different look in comparison to the standard Nikon lenses I have (50 mm f2 AI, 50mm f1.8 AIS, 50mm f1.4 S-C and I also have an Ukranian Helios 81N) and I personally like it more.

Here there are some test shots taken with my FM.

I do not find it soft wide open but I'm not a pixel counter.

I bought the 40mm SLII a few years ago, for my manual focus Nikons, although I use it on the D600 as well.

40mm is my favorite focal length which means this is my favorite lens as well, and I predominantly shoot film. Hence this lens sees a LOT of use. It is very sharp, has high contrast and is small. Love it.

Also have the 28mm version because my old 28mm Ai Nikkor was pretty poor. The 28mm CV is as excellent as the 40mm IMHO.

They are clearly a step up from zooms in image quality.

I bought the 20/3.5 to replace my 20/4 Nikkor, so as to have a 20mm with an on board chip. The performance is good, and it is small and compact like the 20/4.

Also a vote for the 40/2. It's my son's lens but I like to steal it from him sometimes. It's beautifully made and extremely sharp from wide open all across the frame on film.

As I mentioned in another thread, the 40mm f/2 (1st generation) cleared out all of my Nikon 35mm lenses.

The 58mm f/1.4 pretty much cleared out my Nikon 50mm lenses, except for the 50mm f/2.8 Micro Nikkor AIS. I only wish that the 58mm had the metering prongs to work with my FTN meter, like the 40mm lens does.

I no longer own a Nikon 20mm lens. How does the 20 3.5 compare to Nikon's?

I have been looking at the Voigtlander 28mm to go with my 50mm 1.8 G and have a couple of questions :
- Do the small size of the lens feels weird on a SLR body? The only body I own at the moment is a F80. Since a F80 is quite small I guess the size should be ok, but how about a larger SLR/DSLR?
- How easy is the focus with a standard screen?
- How is the image quality?

Thanks!
