Great - the thread about my zine documenting the funeral of Margaret Thatcher has been moved to the 'Off Topic' forum. This means that it no longer shows up in the list of active threads

The original thread can be found here.

Anyway, here's another photo from the zine...

Great photos. And thanks for posting the 'other bowler-hatted chap'.

Were they some sort of doormen, or other officials?

I assumed the bowler-hatted gentlemen were just business men, they certainly weren't officials of any sort!

I did see a few other bowlers on the day, but these three were definitely the nattiest.

OK. it's just that bowlers are a very rare spot even in the City these days. I know there are a lot of Officers of obscure organisations in the City, particularly the Guilds, who might have turned out on the day. Perhaps they were just dressed in a more traditional manner (as they may have been in the 70s and 80s more normally) out of respect for Ma Thatch. Good shots, anyway.

Why not respect the moderators decision?

Because the original post was not off topic - it was about a booklet of photographs documenting an important event in British history. The thread contained photographs and many of the comments related to the photography and zine. Some of the posts within the thread were more about the person rather than the photography but that was to be expected - she was a very polarising politician.

Cheers

Well, the moderators thought that that is where it belongs. Why not respect that?

And now this thread is about to be derailed away from Simon's work by nitpicking about his posting it!

(fill in sighs, rolleyes and various other grumpy emoticons)

Our volunteer moderators have moved it for a reason - it does not happen by accident and I think their work deserves some respect.

Photography and photojournalism is an off topic on RFF. OK.

If you made your next zine about camera bags, perhaps it'll get reconsidered

quit with the cheap shots about rff or maybe just quit rff!
if you dislike it here so damn much why do you keep coming back?
maybe you think your cheap shots are adding something positive to the membership?

Easy, joe. It's not a cheap shot.

That I keep on coming back means that I don't dislike it.

It would be nice, however, that the time spent on scolding me would have been better spent by the moderator who moved it to Off Topic as to why it was moved to Off Topic.

The Invisible Hand without any feedback can be perceived as backhanded.

Friends don't only pat each other's backs. They tell them nicely when something's off.

For example, I didn't say "hey joe, if you dislike the membership so much why do you keep on interacting with them?" No. That's not how I feel, anyway. But if I did, I'd probably do that via PM.

I do, however, think that photography and photojournalism (and on top of it, taken with a rangefinder) isn't exactly "Off Topic".

mods are not expected to defend their actions here...

why is it that the action of a mod is considered wrong without question?

i am tired of being second guessed and the assumption instantly made that the mod is wrong.

when a thread starts going off course there is the time consuming option of making many deletions to keep it on track...move it to off topic or just close it.

yesterday we closed a thread that was starting to be anti semetic...and there was an uproar...of course it was assumed that the mod was wrong...
maybe some would enjoy a more 'wild west' approach be taken at rff and let anything be...

i have seen sites hit bottom because moderation was too lax...
