244.95 for a IIIF Red Dial with T.H.C. lens F2.

The price is about right for a (inflation UNadjusted ) for a EXC- IIIF Red Dial with a Russian Elmar copy on EBAY.

Inflation adjusted, using this calculator , works out to $1878.97 in 2007 prices.

The advert mentions the T.H.C. Taylor Hobson Cooke lens F2. Anyone know what's that ?

Its an English made lens in LTM. Several British optical companies made Leica mount lenses after WW-II because the British government barred or heavily taxed almost all imports in the years right after the war as a means of stimulating British industry. These lenses were said to be good but are rare. Ivor Matanle mentions them in his book, "Collecting and Using Classic Cameras"

The Taylor Hobson is rare, and expensive for collectors.
I never realized the price difference between the IIf and IIIf was so great. The IIF would fetch more these days as it is less common.

I paid $15 for a Leica IIIa with F2 lens not long ago. THAT was the greatest sale in history for me.

My 1934 Leica III "daily driver" has a "Peerless Camera" label glued inside the film chamber.

I think I paid about $150 for it on eBay, came with a Komura 35mm f:3.5 lens.

That's $0.95 in 1935 money (the year the IIIa was introduced). Not a bad deal!! 😀
