I wonder if any of you know the Apple product cycle (from http://www.misterbg.org/AppleProductCycle). Most of it is applicable to Leica, too.

With the recent IR and banding discussions, I guess we are currently in the phase that begins with "A minor, rarely occurring flaw in the device begins to be discussed in the Apple support forums," where expectations are disappointed and myths shattered.

(Don't take it too literally, though. $5000 makes people easily and understandably disappointed.)

Hi Philipp,

So true, but then it's valid about most digital cameras these days. I don't know about a decade or maybe 2 ago, because I didn't follow the market back then, but nowadays there seems to be an instant split of the audience into lovers and haters and recycling of previous arguments. I'm guessing the companies actually love this, because they get lots of people writing about them for free. I know only one product used for digital photography that seems to be nearly flawless, because discussions on it are very very rare (and there's plenty of people using it). The result ? Newcomers never learn about that product and may up buying something else

I know enough about the M8 now to know it's an extremely desirable though of course not perfect camera, but quite a bit above my budget.

Thanks for the link, it was a good read :)
