Interesting YT vid clip. What defines a good photographer? What defines a good photograph? What's a photographer's hit rate, i. e., out of how many shouts how many are good?
In another life I kept bees as a hobby. My club had a fellow come and speak who had done research in SE Asia and also did a big photojournalist article for NatGeo. He was a bug guy, not a photo guy. But NatGeo sent him out with a few cameras and lots and lots of film. And they kept sending more film and he kept sending the exposed film back. Say a year later when the article was published in NatGeo the photos were great. If you shoot thousands you can get ten or fifteen good ones for NatGeo to print. The trick is doing a higher hit rate of things other than bugs, I guess. ;o)
So we, or more exactly, I can as a hack play with these wonderful mechanical toys and pull in a good one every once in awhile. For me the fantasy I have that I may know what I am doing keeps me pushing the money across the counter at the photo shop. For me once I could accept that I was never going to be great but I ,might be pretty good someday has made photography a lot more fun. But a Pulitzer would be nice. LOL
