We're all light!
I will say that this story hit me on a number of levels–as a New Yorker, as a baseball fan, and as a photographer. At the end of the story, all I could do was paraphrase a Clint Eastwood line from The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly: Rarely have I seen such blinding-great talent wasted so badly.

"See the ball, hit the ball". Classic.
Great article, btw, thanks for sharing. I lived in MA back when I was in college. They signed Manny when I was up there and friends who were Red Sox fans from Boston would have pretty funny stories about Manny from "friends of friends" who worked at Fenway, etc etc.
My favorite, and I have no idea if it's true but it seems to fit his personality: He had a ballboy clean his car and told him to take all the cash in the glove compartment as payment. The ballboy opened the glove and found several thousand dollars in wads of cash! Too funny.

Aperture: Thanks. The story I heard was obviously wrong but it's cool to know it was based on some form of truth. I always wondered if it was complete BS!
