48 bids and to that price? I think the seller may find some people backing out when the sale is over. Of course, maybe some took up his offer of looking before bidding.
That does seem to be an incredible collection though. I wonder if the seller tried any of the big online sellers of used camera gear first?

the interesting part is that there was "buy it now" option for $49,999 (and now it >55k)

Why anyone would want to put this stone on his shoulders?

It's no problem to amess 1000 cameras, worth less than 10000 USD, and call it a collection.

I'm thinking this one transcends the boundary of 'collection' into 'hoard' territory.

I would probably argue that this would be the opposite of the cure to GAS. There doesn't seem to be any high-high end gear in the lot from what I see and I imagine all the gems were picked out before the sale. So, in all likelihood, you'd spend months selling and "upgrading"; testing this and that; trading; all that jazz.

Buy it now was 49k, but this option disapears as soon as anyone places a bit, even a lower one. The guy will be very happy because this will go up and up and up and........

If there is not something we can't spot in pictures, I think even 4,999 would be dream price for this mess...of cameras. Don't think any sane buyer will pay 50,000 even now he bids that sum. Life is too sweet to trash it that way

Anyway, I'm watching this auction! Will be fun to see the final price!

This actually "sold" once before, so there may be something fishy with it (or the buyer backed out).

Edit: Original buyer had 0 feedback, odds are they backed out...

Starting bid was 34,999 BIN was $39,999. I've been watching this one for a while. Last time through, no bids, and then the link went viral, and Pow! Every camera would have to average $55 at this point, you would need a lot more info to comfortably bid so high.
I heard the Lomography shop is buying all of them so they can charge 200% more than the going price.

I'm shocked. I figured this would be on ebay for a year or so until the seller finally sold it all for ~5k tops. The top few pieces may be worth a few thousand but the bulk of the collection is probably work less than $10 each. Simply dealing with taking ownership - shipping, sorting through it all, etc - would be a mess.

This would certainly fill in a few holes in my collection.
