the first brought me good memories.
the road to hana is pretty beautiful. what is very cool to do also is to go beyond hana, there are some very gorgeous beaches and spots and you can even go all the way down to kihei, in winter the creeks are dry so it's fine, otherwise a tall vehicle is needed. the road won't show up on car rental maps as the road is not your default well infrastructured road, so go at your own discretion, but it is so worth it.

Is there a decent or passable road to Kihei ? we always end up going to Kahului and then back to our hotel.
We never seem to have enough time to explore past Hana. Once stopped at Hamoa beach - great waves.
