I'm traveling around the US at the moment and thought I'd try to edit and publish on the road to see how that works out. I've been in New Jersey for a few days for a music festival in Asbury Park, and will now go west to St. Louis, and then Chicago->San Francisco->Portland->New York (Amtrak all the way!) before going back home in three weeks.

I haven't been shooting much this year so I'm trying to get into a groove here... would love some feedback. I'll try to add pictures to this thread every now and then. Here are some from the past three days (all taken with my X100, the only camera I have with me):

I go out for a smoke. I turn around and standing next to me is one of my favorite film directors of all time: Jim Jarmusch. He went off to see Portishead before I could muster up the courage to ask to take a picture. So here's one of him walking away, as a reminder to myself not to hesitate next time...

Had a spare evening before leaving for St. Louis, so I decided to check out the Occupy Wall Street protests:

"Tribalistic drum circles are not politics", the marxist shouted.

I like how you captured a cross-spectrum of the protests, it shows a lot more depth than the news media is reporting on in this country. Really nice work overall, I hope this represents the beginning of your new groove and I look forward to what else you can tell us about our country through your photos!

You & the camera are one. Wonderful shot's...esp. the protest photos. Keep us posted on your time here in the US & enjoy!:)

Very nice set. You have a nice way around the x100. Some of the most film like shots I've seen from that camera to date.

Cheers!

I'll just say you've arrived at a very interesting time in this country. This may be a serendipitous moment for you, photographically speaking.

Wow, thanks for your comments, I really appreciate it - very encouraging!

Here are a few shots from last night that I initially rejected, but maybe they have some value:

And here are some from Tuesday, before I left for St. Louis:

I hope they look OK - I'm doing quick editing on an old laptop. Working with the X100 is a joy... most of the time. When it gets really dark (many of the shots are ISO 5000) I truly miss my Hexar's autofocus. Maybe MF will help, haven't really tried that yet.

A few more, this time from St. Louis:

Protesters just released from St. Louis city jail, having been arrested the previous night for refusing to leave Kiener Plaza.

Doing great work, showing how you do not have to have a Leica.

Although I think the "maxists" comment is woefully inappropriate and archaic rhetoric that is totally out of context.

Thanks!

He was standing next to the drum group, mocking them. I was wondering where he was from - then I noticed an URL on the sign: platypus1917.org - a Marxist organization that I had no idea about. The text on his sign is apparently one of their mottos.

Some nice stuff here. I'll be shooting a bridge occupation in London on Sunday, too. Protests always throw up some interesting situations. Still, my favourite in the casino shot.
