In the "zoom-poll" I wrote about my first ever lens test comparing

1) AFD 50/1,4 Nikkor
2) AFD 24/2,8 Nikkor
3) AFS 16-85/3,5-5,6 DX VR Nikkor

all three attached to a D80.

Here are a few examples, similar focus lenght each at 5,6.

I wasn´t really surprised but a little bit astonished as the primes are not as contrasty and sharp as the zoom is. But see for yourself.

Note: the modells are teddybears, it´s not a serious test.

Very interesting... I've heard from a few people that the 16-85 is very good....
If you had the d300 you could try AF fine tuning on your primes and see how they go.
