I just developed two old rolls of PanF+ and they came out very very thin. The edge printing is also very thin, to the point of being nearly invisible on one roll.

I'm trying to determine the cause of the problem. Here is what I know:

1. Developer is DD-X, mixed immediately before use. I dev'ed three other rolls this morning using the same bottle, so the developer concentrate is good.
2. Developer was carefully mixed 1+4 as always; I'm sure I used the right concentration.
3. Development cycle was 8 minutes, using my regular agitation (30 seconds to start, plus 10 seconds at the top of every minute). Development time taken from the Massive Dev Chart.
4. Fix was pre-mixed and somewhat old, but used for the other rolls this morning with no problems. Film was fixed for about eight minutes.
5. The shots are from July 2005, which means the film is probably three years old or more, and it has not been ideally stored since the photos were taken.
6. Shots are from my Bessa R, which has never had a metering problem. It's possible that I had the ISO set incorrectly, but this shouldn't affect the edge markings.

I'm tempted to believe that the problem is #5, but why would that have an effect on the edge markings? Any ideas will helpful.

Thanks!
BJ
