true north strong & free
just got back from a photo sale/swap meet.
every year there are less tables and the folks working the tables are much older it seems.
film and old gear seems to be the realm of the old.
anyway...

i picked up 2 lenses, the minolta md 28/2.8 for 35 bucks and a very nice md tele rokkor 100/2.5 for 50 bucks.

i now have too many 28s but like the idea of a 100...24 and 85 are on the list to eventually get as well.

any comments on the 100 would be appreciated...still researching it now.

Easily one of the sharpest and most useful lenses in my arsenal. Amazing Bokeh, too. I love mine, I was out using it yesterday, on my XK. They go for a lot more than 50 Bucks on Ebay, so I'd say you did very well. Find the original MC Rokkor Minolta lenshood for it. Not expensive and very worthwhile to have.

You will like the 100mm. Enjoy.

Yep love my 100 2.5
I paid more than twice as much as you did for mine.

i was surprised at the price...
as i picked up the lens from the table, i asked 'how much?' and the seller replied 100 bucks!
i said 'too much' and he said 'how much do you want to pay?'
i said '50 bucks' and he said 'ok!'

This is more typically what these go for....

BTW Here is the original lenshood for it. $3 to $7 at KEH. Highly recommended for you:

Terrific deal on a wonderful lens.
You are certainly enjoying yourself with your new Minolta equipment.
The 28/2.8 is a very nice lens as well but if you find one at the right price I recommend trying the Vivitar Series One 28/1.9.

Not to take away from your thread but I also found a 100mm 3.5 lens and the last camera show I attended...but it was a Canon FL lens in almost new condition...traded for a Nikon F Prism...so far I like the results...and the Field of View...
I can't seem to find too much info on this lens...

I only have one Series 1, a 35-85 varifocal. It is nice. Actually, I have also found the old TX lenses pretty good.

But I get the idea you are sort of trying to stay with Minolta. Nothing wrong with that.
