i think i answered this recently...mind is going...
depending on size they hold about the same...
the retro is much classier without looking frumpish...
the citywalker is more messenger style...the material moves against the body easier and is slightly less bulky feeling than the retro.
the only real solution is to buy both and use depending on mood...that what i am doing...
though i am in love with the billingham L2 lately when carrying less gear...

I have the Retro 20... I'm thinking of getting the CW20 if it offers any advantage to the Retro.

i have the retro 5 and 7...had the 10 but it was too big for me.
also have the cw 10 & 20...i should have just got the 20 as it's a better size for me.
no real advantage that hits me, they do the same thing but slightly differently.
it's more the look of each that is different.
not much help am i?

At work I have a Thinktank and it's fine. It's a nice looking bag with well thought-out compartments. It carries a D200 and a D7000 with a 70-200, 17-35 and a 50 plus a flash, external mic and some extra cards and batteries. you do need to pack carefully to fit all of it in. However, the velcro is LOUD so be careful if you are covering an event and find yourself having to open the bag in the middle of it because you will have half the room looking at you. For my personal stuff, Domke it is.

Actually, the fact that you can't really identify any significant pro/con of one over the other IS a lot of help.

No intention of hijacking the thread, but in this context would a BareBonesBag be a fair competitor to consider?

Your a trouble maker Saul...
Your a trouble maker Saul...
I really thought I had this figured out...
I couldn't decide between the Retrospective or the CityWalker.
Bought both and thought I would try them out and choose. Couldn't make a decision, so I took the partitions out of the CityWalker and put the Retrospective inside. Works great, and I've been happy with both purchases.
Now, tell me more about this BareBonesBag, Saul.

My TT Retro 5 has silencers for the velcro...my Domkes are my noisy bags.
I like my Retro 5, but have been considering the Citywalker for a slightly bigger bag. Are the numbers equivalent size? ie is the Retro10 the same size as the Citywalker 10?

The one I have is Retro 10. And CVickery, it does have silencers for velcro that work great - when I remember to use them :bang:
