I'm thinking of buying a Yashica Electro 35 GT. I found one for about £18 I guess (roughly counting). It has been tested and seller says it's ok but need new battery, it looks a bit dusty o the images but I think it's bad lighting in the photos also. There's also one for bout £27, with photo only of front but it looks in really good cometic condition.

Here are links to the ads (please don't start bidding now ;) ):

I know there are some on ebay, but shipping included they will probably cost more.

Any advice? Or should I get another model complety? I like to keep the price down though, need to buy stuff for SLR also... and I'm aiming for Yashica stuff and Pentax stuff.... uh, expensive hobby this, that gets one addicted ;)

GT on first link seems having dinged filter ring?

Yes, it doesn't say nything about that but it looks a bit dinged ;) I don't think it need to affect the performence though, but I would like it to look nice also. Maybe I'll go for the second one...

Worn cosmetics is OK if price is right, but strategic parts should be fine, otherwise it's parts or project camera.

I use 55mm screw-in hood on G35 , also sometimes color filters for BW are mounted so dinged filter thread is no-no. Filter thread for me isn't just cosmetics. Yes, it can be straightened, though it takes work, time and if it's affected heavily, finally it's not like new anyway.

If one decides to replace filter thread for GT, it can be more difficult than for chrome models. Especially not in US.

That said, good luck buying right one.

If one is lucky it could work, it does on my Tokina 105mm-lens eventhough the filterring is damaged filters can still mount. But I guess theres no way to tell that from a picture, and I'd rather go for the one without the damage (if I can dig deep enough in my wallet) ;)
