Just a few minutes ago I finnished watching a recently filmed TV docu about the NY fashion industry. And what I see ? Young and veteran pros handholding those Jurasic film MF slrs, Mamiyas, Pentaxes, Polaroid proofs...

Somehow, in my film extintion paranoia I supposed these guys should be working these days with digital cameras, wire-connected to computers...

Yeah, you still see a lot medium format film cameras in fashion photography, apparently. I'm looking to add a Mamiya 645e soon to my growing stable.

If anybody watches americas next top model, you see a ton of hasseys as well, although those are using digital backs.

Not rangefinder related but but since you brought up some of the old stuff, I enjoy using vintage Pentax, Mamiya, and Russian M42 lenses on my Canon D30 DSLR and Canon 10D DSLR.

I'm surprised as well. In LA, I rarely ran into photographers at that level who shot any film at all. Thought I did meet one guy who had just finished a shoot with Carmen Electra and was dropping 75 rolls of Portra off at the lab.

It's going to be how a photographer can differentiate from the pack. FIlm will be a badge of honor.
