tight lens mount

On the refurb that I received today I've found that the lens mount is pretty tight.

Some lenses click into place pretty much as expected (i.e., the CV 35mm Nokton).

Others (i.e., my Tri-Elmar) require a pretty stout twist.

I don't think that this is harmful but was unexpected. I don't think that this is reason enough to return an otherwise seemingly perfect refurb unit.

Any other reports of tight lens mounts?

I have a 35mm/1.2 Nokton with the opposite problem. Whenever I focus the lens turns slightly in the mount, very annoying. It's fine on an M4 camera. My other lenses (a mixture of Voigtlander and Leica) have varying degrees of stiffness but none are too tight or loose other than the 35mm.

Yes, I mounted my Leica Summicron 90/2 the other day on the Epson, and it did need a stout twist, as you put it . But once in place, there is no loose play. And shooting these Leice lenses with aperture fully open is very enjoyable indeed.;)

With R-D1 #1, I have this issue too. I think it is because the lens lock tab (whatever you call it) is too small for the notch in a lot of lenses. This results in a little play especially if focus rotation is a little stiff.

However with my (new refurb) R-D1 #2, I have this mounting issue. I wonder if this is intentional (i.e., by design) to counteract the (too small) lock tab.

Mount troubles? Seems to be a new variation of R-D1 flaws...
I still believe "refurbished" and "demo" samples are bodies that came back because of warranty issues, got a quick "refurb" and were resold...

Didier, it's only a problem if you make it one. :) There is not a single camera I've ever used that didn't show a tight mount now and then with one lens or another. Even my Canon Eos cameras do with one or two lenses. It might just be the allowed variation in the mounts working against each other.

I don't consider the "tight mount" to be a problem per se.

I'm just wondering if others have experienced the same thing.
