The December Issue of Time, has an M3 / 50mm summicron, on the front cover. Strange that they would use a 50 year old camera as a lead about the years best Photos and not the latest all singing all dancing digital vunder kamera!!!🙄 🙄

Maybe it's kind of like how they depict people on TV as being beautiful and perfectly fit, whereas their real life counterparts are... not so much? 😛
The M is one of the sexiest cameras ever, why would they put some plastic POS on the front instead?

That M3 has a ton of tape covering its seams ... so could it be an old staff camera of Time's

My favorite's of the group:

The shot in the bar in New Orleans by Anthony Suau

I thought the sequence of photos of the soldier wounded by sniper fire by Joao Silva, was quite interesting to think what handling the camera in that situation could have been like

Then photo before that of the soldier being briefed huddled around a camp fire was a nice atmospheric shot .... that was by Yuri Kozyrev

Edit: Here is the M3 as requested

Is this the same "Time" i'm thinking of? The weekly? Don't see it listed here:

Is that really a question or a bit a sarcasm?
A rhetorical question I guess. They're more attractive than all the little silver point and shoots everyone uses to take pictures now, even if most people don't actually know what they are other than 'a camera'.

It looks more like a camera than a, well, camera. So iconic. Beautiful idea. Even a child would recognize it as a camera. On the other hand, a typewriter for the best stories of the year? Who would even know what such a beast was?
