yes, i did decided to sell my R-D1 to buy a used M8 or m8.2
Ebay Germany got it, hope for a good new Hand. My M4-2
needs a new sister :)

Would you mind sharing what your "tipping point" was for the switch?
better image quality and better rangefinder and good mecanical support here in germany. First i want a m9 but my wife was not exited about my project, so i will buy a m8 witch is much cheaper, since the m9 is out

Is this your auction ?

http://cgi.ebay.de/Epson-R-D1-Digitalkamera-Messucher-M8-M8-2-M9-/250723170510?pt=DE_Elektronik_Computer_Foto_Camcorder_Digitalkameras_PM&hash=item3a6043f8ce#ht_1447wt_1139

I ask because I would like to know how one can determine the number of shutter actuations .. In this auction, it is suggested that there's a counter somewhere: "Kamera hat weniger als 5000 Auslösungen !!! laut Zähler."

If this is not your auction, would you mind posting the link ?

Thanks,
Stefan.

@mctuomey : yes, but first a do not know if i should take a m8 or m8.2 / prices are low at the moment

Michael, I can't comment from experience since I haven't used the M8.2. I chose the M8 because it was in my price range. I do have the vulcanite covering which is more secure in use than the M8's original covering. I think I'd like having more accurate framelines at mid-distance, but I've acclimated to the M8's framing so it's not a big deal. Losing the highest shutter speed for a slightly quieter shutter, well, I'm not sure. The shutter isn't so objectionable, it's the re-cocking. Can't avoid it, can only delay it. If you're used to the RD1's shutter and framing, you'll probably get used to the M8's shutter and framing without a problem.

Let the wife get used to the M8 being around for a bit then just replace it one day with an M9.
They look so similar... :D

hi stefan,
yes its mine,

no tere is not a special counter, but the picturees are numbering
on and on, and its about 4800 or so at my r-d1. Dont know how i could set it to zero

Should not feel so sad. The camera will hopefully end up in hands of somebody who was possibly saving a long time to get this camera and the seller is also getting a machine which he is looking forward too. Sounds like Christmas to me.

So, cheer up ;)

are YOU the Münsteraner Guy ?

Support is what kept me away from the R-D1. Here in the states I believe it's even worse than across the pond (Atlantic). Once the M10 comes out you can swap your new friend for a M9. The improved high ISO rendering will have folks swapping which should reduce the cost of a used M9.

Have you seen the Thumbs-Up? They seems to be the must have accessory for a digital M. Make sure you get an extra battery.

Share your results and experience when you do the deed (sell the R-D1 and get an M8).
