Hi all --

Is there a timer that beeps every minute as it counts down? I'd like to be reminded by the timer to agitate the film developing tank every minute.

Thanks!

If you have an IOS device the massive developer app timer can be totally configured for your agitation method. It gives a warning noise when it is almost time to start agitation and plays a different sound for your agitation duration.

Handy app as you can also set your own recipes and it will calculate dilutions for you quickly too.

I also use the Massive Dev Chart Timer app on Android. As Shawn notes, it beeps three times, once per second as it approaches the minute mark (or whatever interval you have customized). During the agitation portion, the sound is more like metronome clicks. Costs $8.99, but it's been totally worthwhile, highly recommended for anyone who does home development.

I use an app called Develop! for IOS. It's free, and seems a bit more open ended than the Massive Dev app--one app can do b&w and color, and as many steps as needed.

The downside is that you have to look up times first, then input them into your recipe.

Get an used Durst Coltim mechanical timer with all its original hardware, and install the red dots on its dial so that it rings every minute once launched, until your development time ends, like it was designed to. You have to press the red bar each time it rings so that it goes on running again, but it's very handy : you can't really skip any agitation cycle with that system. A simple yet very good and very efficient development timer, which works without battery.

I used an Ironman watch in my pocket for many years. You can set the countdown timer for a minute, or thirty seconds or however you want.

The old trick was to record an audio cassette (remember those?) with your timings.

I used to do that for developing Ektachrome! Maybe you can still get a shirt-pocket sized tape recorder. I even have one around here someplace!
