Hi guys, this is the first of a flurry of posts I'll be making in the next couple of days, looking for darkroom advice...being the proud new possessor of my very own darkroom kit :D

I'm just about to do a dry run on developing a film from scratch - so far I've been enlarging negs I already had. Being as I'm not enamoured of Lucky 400 I thought I could afford to use a roll as my guineapig. I've never taken to it: it's grainy, flat and generally what you'd expect for the price. I don't mean any offence to people who are good enough to get nice results from the stuff - 'cos really, if you can, I bow before your technical prowess!

Still, all things being equal, have you got any tips for developing the film to get the best results possible? I'll be using Ilfosol 3, and the film was exposed at 400ASA. I was planning on 6mins in 1:9...but I might be way out, as a novice.

After that, I'm planning to soup some FP4 125, and maybe a couple of rolls of Neopan 400, so I'd really appreciate your tips there too...

All the best,

Tim
