I found a good condition Leica 11 on ebay.fr

http://cgi.ebay.fr/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=190592319755&ssPageName=STRK:MEW

It seems quite a high price for body only.Is it or have Leica prices gone mad?I would like it

I havnt bid because only a week ago i bought a zorki ic in full working condition which takes excelent sharp B&W cost $22

Even so for some crazy reason i cant understand i still want a Leica no longer a CL nor the huge M class but a Leica 1 to have 11 to use &111 eventualy while i can(hope)aford one

That's a high price for a Leica II without a lens. Cosmetically it looks in reasonable condition but will almost certainly need an overhaul if you intend to use it. If you take that and the cost of an Elmar 5cm into the equation you would not be left with much change from $650 euros.

Make the seller also test the rangefinder. I found a nice one with new curtains for less a few weeks back but the rangefinder needs an overhaul. Not that difficult to do but one needs to take it into account in the price.

On eBay, this is what the black ones seem to go for, currently. I'd say EUR 325 would be a spot-on price, but nobody sells them for that anymore...

Good luck with the GAS 😀

🙄 umm i was afraid the price might be almost that today, since everyone sells the lens seperatly the bodies now cost what a compleat Leica used to cost

There is a 111c with sumicron for 277€ there as well, and a few others but "dealers" are stripping them

Last year there was an M2 with sumicron which went in germany for 320€i arrived at the listing with just 2 or 3 seconds to run,i tried to bid anyway but---🙁

The problem with FED and Zoki is the shutter only works from 40th sec as so many have had the speed changed before winding

I would realy like to have a real Leica but not at any price😉

Don't despair! Look at item 360399322039 - a Leica II that sold for 378 euros that will clean up nicely, and it came with a Summaron 3.5cm lens that you could easily sell for 200 euros, possibly more. Or Item 300604071463 - a Leica II in lovely condition that sold for 376 euros with a clean Elmar 5cm lens. Or Item 280745424848 - a Leica II that sold for 560 euros with a lens that's worth more than the seller paid for the whole package, so it was effectively a "free" camera.
I would strongly advise against judging the value of anything by the BIN prices being asked by greedy dealers on eBay. Look at completed auctions and you will get a much better idea. Good luck.

Just a thought: the -c suffix and later Leicas are more durable users due to the cast-body construction, and improvements in the shutter mechanism.

The earlier cameras can be fine users ( my every-day Leica is a 1934 III ), but the "built-up" body construction can be subject to body distortion under the weight of a long lens or if the camera gets sat-upon or otherwise imposed upon...

Just a thought to keep in the back of your mind while you're shopping...
