I have no idea what Kodak is doing, nor have I been keeping up with the current news, all I know is when I went into my local photo lab about 2 weeks ago all they had was 30 rolls of film, so I bought them all.....

Today, I went to a different photo lab ( I only know of 2 labs in this city) that carry the film I use/like......Kodak Pro Image 100......I bought everything they had........I also asked them to order some more because I want to stock up on it.......it costs me about 2.00 USD a roll.....so I do not worry about the price.....I just want to stock up while I can........

each box has 5 rolls in it, so I am pretty sure I will be "OK" for my Myanmar trip, I just wish I could buy a larger quantity of it......

is there anyone else trying to stock up on film out there?.......I have about 40 rolls of tri-x in my refrigerator, so I feel "OK" on that end.....because I have been shooting color a lot these days...

cheers, michael

I just buy as needs arise. I'm about to order Tri-x from Freestyle, but first I want to try out the HP5+ I have from the big sale at B&H last year. I may switch...

I just buy as I need it, I guess I have about 20 rolls 120 and about 10 35mm. I tend to order film about once a month.
If I go on a trip I buy about 2-3 weeks in advance, I try not to hoard but I guess I keep one or two rolls of films I rarely use like Delta 3200 for a few months in the fridge.

I only buy for the month ahead, and given my photography is divided between digital and film, that means about 5-10 rolls of 120 film and 5-10 rolls of 35mm film.
I don't worry about film availability, as at least one shop around here stocks just about every film in production, and several out of production ones.

My usual purchases for 35mm include Tri-X 400, Neopan 400, and Velvia 50.
I also have a lot of Superia 400 from a friend who stopped film photography, but they are going unused, as digital for colour gives better results at such film speed.

For 120 film, I usually purchase Tri-X 400, HP5+ 400, Ektar 100, and Velvia 50.
I used to shoot Portra 400 for 120 as well, but to be quite honest, my APS-C digital camera gives better results than that >_> ...

I would be sad to see Kodak abandon all its films, but I am certain Tri-X will survive one way or another, even under a different brand.
Now Ektar, that's a magnificant colour negative film, and I would be devastated to see it disappear.

I worry more about a place I would process my film at, given almost all pro labs in my city have shut down their film processing or closed down entirely, save one or two.
I also need to find a way other than scanning with bellows and slide duplicator with my digital camera, especially for 120 film. Lab scanning simply costs too much for the resolutions I want.

One day, when I have spare income, I will get into Large Format Photography ... because that is an itch which simply won't go away ...

Sorry, not to get too off-topic but Kodak Proimage 100? How have I not heard of this one? Is there a US equivalent or is it a unique emulsion?

Anyway, I've been slowly hoarding my preferred stocks as well. Probably a 2 year supply here, but I don't anticipate building much beyond this. Same concern about color processing, I figure mail order places should be around at least that long to take care of all us hoarders ...

Michael,

I've been stocking up on B&W film, mostly in 100' bulk. Tri-X, TMY2, Acros 100 and others. Probably have 15 100' rolls or so and growing.

Today, I went to a different photo lab ( I only know of 2 labs in this city) that carry the film I use/like......Kodak Pro Image 100......I bought everything they had........I also asked them to order some more because I want to stock up on it.......it costs me about 2.00 USD a roll.
Michael, living in Bangkok how long do you normally have to wait before new supplies come in?

As for myself, having to help out with family members out of work I can't buy large amounts of film at a time but try to buy a few rolls every month...mostly b&w because it's becoming cheaper for me to develop & scan.

I only have chance to shoot at weekend or holidays, so the burn rate is usually 1 roll/week or less. Usually stocked one month worth of film with one extra.

BTW, only $2/roll ?
The shipment must be high for the sellers or eBay is eating too much commision.
There's no C-41 colour other than ColorPlus 200 and Superia 200 in the local shops here. -_-

When I was in the states a couple of months ago I saw Kodak Pro Image 100 for 5.00 USD a roll in San Francisco.....so it is available but I don't know how easily it is to find.

As far as photography goes out here, it is very popular and many people carry cameras with them, but most of them are digital SLR's.....that said, there are plenty of stores that carry lots of different film, but I only use 2 types of film...Tri-x and Pro Image.....and I buy the Pro Image in packs of 5 for about 10.00 USD......I always try to keep lots of film in my refrigerator because I shoot a lot ( I carry my camera everyday with me) and I travel a lot out here and sometimes I don't have time to go to the store and buy film.....

So when I am out and about and I am close to one of the 2 stores that I know stock the Pro Image in packs of 5, I'll stop in and buy a couple packs.....the reason why I bought so much film yesterday was because I'll be going to Myanmar for 3 weeks over the Christmas break and I just figured it would be easier to just buy the film now, so it's one less thing that I have to worry about....

In Bangkok, film is readily available but finding exactly what you want takes a little time, so when I see what I want, I usually just buy it...

Cheers, michael

I've got some stock in a fridge and deep freezer. I just ordered 100 rolls of TriX and 10 of Neopan 400.
I think I should do more but my wife complains 🙄
