Tonight on BBC4 @ 10.50pm, could be good. Not familiar with his work myself.

In No Great Hurry: 13 Lessons in Life with Saul Leiter

"Saul Leiter could have been lauded as the great pioneer of colour photography, but was never driven by the lure of success. Instead he preferred to drink coffee and photograph in his own way, amassing an archive of beautiful work that is now piled high in his New York apartment.
This intimate and personal film follows Saul as he deals with the triple burden of cleaning an apartment full of memories, becoming world famous in the 80s and fending off a pesky filmmaker."

I hope that will be on iplayer. His work is bloody amazing!
Every time I see it I want to rush out the door and shoot the street in full colour.
Is this going to be part of a series?

For our American compatriots who unfortunately *won't* be able to access this by normal means, here's a little help so you can view it. You'll be able to watch it in a day or two on www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer. But first, you'll have to download a VPN application--I'd strongly recommend TunnelBear (www.tunnelbear.com), helped me keep up with BBC's vastly superior coverage of the Olympics when I was in the US last summer.

VPN = virtual private network.

The BBC's website won't let you watch programs on iPlayer if you're in the US. A VPN application enables your computer to fool the BBC's server into thinking you're in the UK. It's a bit of a dodge, but I'm watching the program right now and it's pretty darned good, so I'm hoping folks in the US will take the opportunity to see it.

(I will *not* post links to applications that actually download programs from the BBC's site, so that you can save them to your computer. But they are out there, should you desire to do that sort of thing. :angel:)

It is good. Great quote: "My photographs are meant to tickle your left ear......very lightly."

One of my all-time photography heros. I love his 'eye'... his wonderful use of color. Very inspirational to me. There are at least two books of his work available.

I visited the link to the film and saw that they're planning to release a DVD this summer. I can't wait!

One thing I loved about this, was the fact that Leiter is using Micro 4/3 / 'enthusiast' cameras to photograph, using the -gasp- LCD to compose. He's not using his film Leica's and he certainly isn't using expensive digital rangefinders.
