Hi,

I'm posting this question on behalf of a friend of mine who bought a new Leica M7 only about three months ago.. being excited to get into the M7, he didn't realize that he had only 30 days from the date of sale to send in his registration card for the Passport warranty. Is he out of luck or would he still be able to arrange something with Leica to have it covered now?

Thanks!

He should be able to get it registered so long as he has a copy of the sales receipt. Unfortunately OTOH I think the free winder offer has expired.

Ah. Then I will not tell him that he missed out on a free winder. Oh well, as long as he's able to get Passport for his Leica... seems a shame if he can't since he could have just bought a cheaper, grey market M7 with the same result!

So does he have to arrange this with Leica USA first or should he just send in the Passport card?

I would say give them a call first. They're pretty accomodating but he should maybe talk to someone in the Registration Department and plead his case. Then get their name and send it c/o that person. Leica changed their address in NJ recently so the old address may be on the registration card. The new address is on the Leica web site.
