Super nice images. The serenity in them is belied by the words that tell of the stench.
I've always been fascinated by abandoned places and the detritus of more prosperous times. I can't help but be transported backward and imagining those places full of life, and wondering just what the last bits of life for these spots was like.

Interesting set, Mark, thanks! In June 2014 I drove down there to take a look, and stopped at Desert Beach... I think. There was an abandoned marina and dock, empty RV park, and what appeared to be a restaurant/bar still in operation. Herons (or egrets) were fishing in the shallows, so apparently there were edible fish. Strange place with a strange smell and strange history.

Thanks guys! Glad you enjoyed the set! I also shot a more comprehensive set at Bombay Beach, but probably wont get around to posting them for a while.
