Several Weeks ago I got a QL17 for only a couple of bucks. The batteries are still good, everything works and except for a dent in the filter ring...well, it looks new. As usual OIL is on the shutter blades and I will have to remove the rear lens element for a cleaning. Today I acquired ANOTHER larger Canonet ca. 1961 vintage with the film advance lever on the bottom that is totally unscratched and amazingly..even smells good! (Many older cameras are rancid with cig. smoke odor!!) The shutter on this unit appears to be frozen shut, inasmuch as pushing the shutter button activates the meter AND releases the timer in the lens body. On this unit, getting at the shutter looks like a daunting task and I fear, may leave repair marks on what is currently a "like new" body. While I have read some of the threads on open-up of this camera, they don't appear to be fully "PICTORIALIZED" so, I have some hesitation on starting this operation. Is there more info out there in pictorial format to help me along?

This thread might be a good starting point. I'm sure greyhoundman will be along directly to help you out. Least I hope so, cause I'm working on one of those old Canonet's myself and I could use those pics, too!
