UC-Hexanon 35/2 - optional lens hoods

The LH-4 is a bayonet hood which won't fit. The UC-Hexanon accepts only screw-in ones.

I'd suggest to go hood-free as the UC-Hexanon is very resistant to flare.

I really would like, to have a reverse conical lens hood, as to prevent fingers and other things to intrude to the front element.
I temporarily use a B&W filter on this lens now, but intent, to use it without, as most of my other lenses, but protected by a lens hood.

is that heavystar's "Metal 43mm Screw-in Vented & Tilted Hood E43" you use? if so, do you notice any vignetting at the corner of image?

I will see, how I could obtain one of these original hoods.

So long though, I will also look into finding one of those aftermarket hoods at the local shops.

As far I could remember (haven't been using the lens for a while, and I seldom use a hood), there is no vignetting.

For more precise feedbacks you can refer to the many posts here on RFF regarding the Heavystar hoods. They are well made (for the price), and generally receive very good words.

It may work, but it's not the hood that I used on mine. I used a shallow 43mm screw-in that originally was for the CV 35/2.5 Pancake I. It was small and had no vents. I just checked the site and it looks like Camaraquest no longer sell that hood.

Ah, yes, Peter, you were the one, I read about, regarding the hood.
I then proceeded, to find the Voigtlander bayonet style hood - hehe.

Thanks for the info - I will have my eyes open for one of these alternatives (original hood + Voigtlander screw in and generic 43mm screw in reverse conical hood).

I have a Heavystar vented, straight sided 43mm hood on my Nikkor 50/1.4. Nice hood. I imagine that the newer, Leica copy hood is also nice. I have the original Leica vented, tilted hood on my D. R. Summicron. It is labeled for 35mm & 50mm lenses. I also have an original Canon Series 6 hood that came with my Canon 35/2.8 lens. It is also labeled for 35mm & 50mm lenses. Long winded way to say that I would feel comfortable with the Heavystar lens on a 35mm lens.

On the other hand, the original hood for the UC-Hexanon is so nice (rotating feature) that I just put it on the lens the day I took it out of the box and use it. Carefully.

ps: The lens cap, however, remained in the box. I placed a B+W UV-MRC filter on the lens and screwed the hood into the filter.

They do still sell it -- it's just listed these days as an optional "smaller round hood with Voigtlander cap" for the Nokton 35/1.4 and 40/1.4 lenses.

It is Dirk as the outside diameter is about the same as the aperture ring!
