As above, can anyone recommend a decent service for such in the UK? I'm hoping not to have to send it off to Japan for both time and customs issues (I will need to convince customs I've already paid duty on the thing).

If it's a classic rangefinder try Newton Ellis & Co, Cheapside, Liverpool, with whom I've had very satisfactory dealings over the years. Ring them first (sorry, can't remember the number)--they're happy to discuss what you want and give cost/time estimates etc.

I mean for the Epson R-D1, not sure if it qualifies as a classic, but I like it.

Ah sorry, I should have read the title properly.
They do work on modern cameras, and I strongly suspect they'd do a very good job on an R-D1, but I'd definitely ring them first.

If it's just the rangefinder you need re-calibrated. Robert at Robert White is trained to do them for the RD-1

Thanks guys, I did have a go myself but what I thought was a decent job just aint working for me. I'm using a CV 35 1.2 so I understand D.O.F issues here but I'm not getting much joy at all now on my test shots. I've got a bit of a rattle in there too, it's very vexing and needs a professional opinion before I capitulate and send it off to Japan at further expense and time. Oh well, win some lose some.
