Well-known
I have a Billingham 335. One of those top flap fastening leather straps was in so bad shape that it needed replacement... And I did it with a little modification.
I have always thought that Billingham 335/445 are perfect bags in every other way except that ithey have this really annoying way how top handle carrying is made. You need to connect those two straps with that leather thingy and..... Yeah, that's fine, but if you want to have fast access to your camera it means that you don't close your bag like that...and then one of those handles (front one) dangles annoyingly and there is a big chance that it gets stuck into something.. And also, if you use those top cover leather fastening things, it's not that fast and easy because that strap and the metal ring are in the way . Me don't likey.
Well, I like the way how Domke works. Buckles. Detachable handles. Yes, I want to take that extra handle off and use it only when I'm transporting lot of stuff and not taking pictures. i wanted to combine Billingham to work more like Domke style... Works like a charm.
EDIT: The stitching is not final. If I go really wild, I might sew those new Domke style top flap buckle pieces under the flap...
