Perkele! I bought 39mm Nikon orange filter from ebay and of course it does not fit into my Ultron. The thread in the filter is somehow too far from the edge og the rim... Do I have to buy some ultra slim and ultra expensive filter if I want to spoil my pictures with orange cast with Ultron? i don't want to! Can you tell me some cheap alternatives which will definitely fit to this lens? Thanks!

You may want to check to see if the Nikon filter has a standard thread pitch. Is it an old Nikon filter? I have not had any problems with any modern filters on my Ultron, from Hoya, B+W, Helopan (sp), Tiffen, Leica. I also have had some general filters bought in lots off ebay which have worked.

The Leitz filter that came with my 60's vintage Summicron fits on my 35mm f1.7 Ultron without any problem, also when the hood is mounted.

I don't know much about filter threads, but go to your local camera store and try some standard filters to see if they fit.

All the 39s I've tried have fitted. Are you saying that the Nikon has a long 'land' before the thread on the filter starts -- sort of ________^^^^ instead of __^^^^? If so, I doubt there's much hope.

Cheers,

R.

I just got a B+W filter for mine. They're priced pretty cheap and seem to do the job well enough.
Goodluck with it :)

Well...it took 30 min of work with tools and sandpaper and now the filter fits. Oh the joy!

The filter you have may be meant as rear screw in type for a Nikon Mirror lens. They do have an odd pitch thread on them and wont fit your Ultron, I vaguely remember them being around that size?

Palaeoboy's right, and they fit some of the really long lenses, too. I had a 39mm Nikon filter from a dealer that wouldn't fit, despite assurances that it would, so if Nikon dealers don't always know...

Shame, I like their filters. I've not seen any evidence that Nikon make normal 39mm filters.
