While a hassle for legacy wide angles, the 2x crop factor is a godsend in tele-photography, especially super tele work. Enclosed is a shot shown on the left taken with modest cropping at about 100-150 feet with an E-P2, 500/4 and a 2x extender, effectively a 2000/8 setup. The lack of mirror slap and 10x focusing aid, ensures tack sharp images, likely better than my Nikon D700 since both are about 12MP. Detail is stunning if the same image is enlaged to a 100% crop as seen on the right.

Maybe this will put the old webcams of the astrophotographers to the shelf..

Did someon ever tried shooting the Moon or similiar with such a setup?

You are absolutely correct. I've been using takumar telephotos for nice easy to carry compact primes.

Taken with a G1 + Takumar 200mm f/3.5.

My Takumar 300mm f/6.3 just came in the mail from an ebay auction. Looking forward to using it... SOOO Much easier to carry than the 500mm.
