This sure sounds ON-topic doesn't it? Seen in Jan 07 issue of American Rifleman, page 22...

Leica announced recently that it has been awarded a US Army contract for the Leica Rangemaster CRF 1200 to be included in the Sapper Squad Leader Pac tool kit. The Pac is a special-application inventory of tools for an environment of virtually constant use, with applications requiring high reliability, low failure, and strict tolerances.

Introduced in 2006, the Rangemaster CRF 1200 is a compact, light-weight unit designed for one-hand operation. The unit provides image stability, 7x magnification, the ability to range from 10 to 1100 meters, weather resistance, watertight seals, and a non-slip finish.

The Sapper Squad Leader Pac tool kit is specially designed to outfit combat engineers. In addition to the laser rangefinder, the kit will include items such as flashlights, knives and other essential field gear that will enable soldiers to complete their missions.
