I've never had any trouble with ebay purchases from Canada.

My M5s need red dots!
I bought a teleconverter from them some years ago and didn't have one bit of a problem. In short, there seem to be NO barriers or conditions or problems with items coming from the big white North.
Now, when it comes to shipping up there, Canadians do suffer. I remember Joe's tribulations about gear shipped to him from CA.

I haven't bought anything in a couple of years from Henry's, but when I did, there were no problems.
Nor have I had any problems with other ebay sellers from Canada. Of course, those have all been used items.

I understand that still photographic equipment can be imported from anywhere duty free. I've never paid taxes on anything. Got a new dSLR from Scotland just yesterday, no VAT, no US tax. I wouldn't worry about it.

I've bought from Henry's and other Canadian sellers and have never been charged any tariff on used equipment. I bought a used lens from another Canadian seller for $750 last week and no customs issues at all.

Do watch bringing things over the border yourself that have been purchased in Canada. You will have to pay tax in Canada and unless you declare the items at the border cannot get the taxes refunded. I don't know if there are import duties if you bring things over yourself. The paperwork to get the taxes refunded is a bit of a chore, and I ended up eating the tax on my one and only Canadian in-person large purchase.

As far as I know there is no such thing as import duties or tariffs on importing anything used into the US. I buy cameras and expensive watches from just about everywhere and have never paid any type of fee. It's been awhile since this happened to me but beware of UPS and FEDEX who will send the items to a broker to determine the cost of the import fees. The broker charges 3% (this was on a very expensive Leica outfit). Of course there was no import fees so I was just stuck with the 3% fee to tell me that.
Henry's is a great place to buy stuff. The only way to ship is Canadain Airmail (post office) who are extremely slow, somewhere between 2~3 weeks.
