Hi all,
I'm thinking about renting a 50mm Nokton but don't have a 58mm uv/ir for it. I was wondering if anyone had any luck using a 46mm uv/ir with a step down ring with any success or does it vignette?
Thanks for the input.

With the standard hood you mount filters between the lens and hood, so that will cause you problems. The vented hood works differently.
The lens vignettes quite heavily anyway, wide open, so I'd expect it to be worse with a step-down ring fitted, but I don't know for sure. I'll stick a mask over mine and take a test shot if you're still planning to do it?

I've managed to mount a filter into the standard hood, it's just a bit of a pain to do(even more of a P.I.T.A. if you tighten it to much). So for your purpose you should be fine.
