I've read alot about using the Nikkor 85 and that awesome photo submitted in a thread a few weeks back didn't hurt either!!

I now see 2 Nikkor's on *bay but it looks like they're Nikon mount only? not LTM?

And wasn't quick enough for the one posted on the Leica forum at photo.net!

The Nikon 85mm F2 is available in Leica Thread Mount, Nikon S-Mount, and Contax mount. The Leica mount has the 39mm rear and the RF coupling "arm". Look for a shot of the rear of the lens. The Nikon S-Mount has the bayonet on the rear, the Contax Version has a 'C' on the barrel.

I use the 8.5cm f2 in LTM on the Canon 7.

The Nikkor 10.5cm F2.5 is also available in LTM. I use it on the M3 with the 90mm framelines.

For years my carry camera was an M3 with a black Nikkor 85mm f2.0. A really great lens. I'm sure the chrome ones are just as sharp, but a lot heavier. Alas, the RF image faded away and the romance has been on hold. Sherry K. says the only fix is to go to an M6J finder. Any thoughts out there?

DAG and CRR Luton will resilver/recement the M3's rangefinder prism if the problem isn't too bad. I think the image may end up being slightly dimmer than when it was new, but it's usually a lot cheaper than having an M6J finder installed.

It's a beautiful lens: my favourite. I might hunt down a Canon when I feel like comparing, but when I really need the goods, I use the Nikkor.
