Using Photos as Data (TED.com)

Interesting. I'm not sure that photos can be any substitute for statistics though. Because the act of photographing or not photographing something (or, if you will, showing or not showing a photo that's been taken) is a man made choice, photography can at best be like severely biased statistics. Like if you had to do weather statistics using weatehr data that's been up to the operator to decide which day to collect and which day to skip.

Thus, one might apparently manage to prove just about anything by putting together a series of photos that seem to tell the story. Also because photographs, unlike numbers, have a particular ability to strike emotions. But very interesting to watch, thanx!

This is about a project in which statistics is replaced by photos.
