Just heard this morning from another camera store that Vanbar Camperdown store in Sydney is no more. All orders now through Melbourne (+ postage). They were apparently given 2 weeks notice to quit the premises. Explored other locations but decided not to proceed.
This is a real inconvenience - they were the only wholesaler I'm aware of in Sydney. Luckily I have about 6 months' stock of powder developer in hand.
Does anyone know of any alternatives now that Vanbar is gone?

Off the top of my head only Les Porter, Lynn, but of course he's closer to Newcastle than Sydney.Just heard this morning from another camera store that Vanbar Camperdown store in Sydney is no more. Sorry to hear it. Hopefully it strengthens the Melbourne business. I dread the idea of Vanbar closing altogether.

The best camera is one that still works!
Vanbar .... the company that offered me three and a half grand trade in for my 240 on a new Monochrom a few weeks back.
I'll shed a silent tear! LOL

Maybe Mailnine can fill the void for film and chems? Otherwise, I'm sure there are lots of folk who make regular trips between Melb and Syd to take some powder...
I hope the Melbourne one stays, I was in there just this morning.

The Melbourne shop sold me 8x10 Ilford paper with three free hp5 rolls in the pack (an Ilford promo). The film was expired.
It's B&H all the way now. I really try to buy local but some shops just don't like customers.

They ship all the powder, x-tol, d-76 etc.
Mind you the new attractive shipping only goes up to a certain weight, one film might make a $60 difference.
I am now able to get my stuff through a friend who has a US address so I combine shipping.
