Forum Comrades, have any of you used the 35-70 Vario-Sonnar for the Kontax G2, oops, Contax G2? Opinions? remarks? jokes? anything?

It came with the G2 I bought. I like it. Framing in the viewfinder is dead on. TLA200 doesn't work well with it at wide angles however. Just some snapshots to show from election night test roll.

GG-1 is good (the one that goes on the 28mm Biogon). I found that the GG-2 interferes with close focus on the Vario-Sonnar.

Yes ,I thought as much.I have a GG-1.How sharp do you guys think the lens is;does it compare with the 35 or 45? I have all the G lenses with the exception of this one and the 16mm.

...hoping to resurrect this old thread.

Does anyone have further opinions of the Contax G 35-70mm 3.5-5.6 Vario-Sonnar lens?

It's pricey, slow, and I have Googled some discouraging words about it...but the zoom range looks great to me.

Any more thoughts? (...please)

Robt.

It is what it is: a slow, sharp zoom. As w/most zooms, if having the convenience of being able to quickly change focal lengths outweighs the inconvenience of losing lens speed, then it could be the lens for you.
