Hi,

I noticed there are several versions of the Vega 12b lens. I realize this is a SLR lens so sorry for posting in the wrong forum but....wondering if anyone knows if there are quality difference between these versions.

Notably there is a version with black aperture blades and one with bronze aperture blades. Any idea which one is better or among other versions?

Thanks in advance.

FSU = jeopardy. There are differences in quality within the same batch of lenses. Good luck! There are real keepers around.

I do not have the 12b, but I'm planning to buy one. I've got the 28b in Pentacon Six mount, it's a superb lens. Do not believe everything you hear about Soviet lenses, they are easily better than their reputation.

Unfortunately most of the lenses I've bought in the Pentacon Six mount have oil on the aperture blades and won't move without cleaning. I do have the Vega 12 in the Kiev 88 mount. I started to take it apart to clean but it got too complicated. Since I don't have a Kiev 88 camera I put it on the shelf. I have the 50mm Zeiss Ikon for the 6C which is great.

I think that mine has black aperture blades, but not certain. The aperture blades stuck open so I took it apart and cleaned it. It worked fine after that. I followed a YouTube video by RetroFoto House that goes into how to repair it. https://youtu.be/_15lTYoDce0

In the Russian-language Internet, "Wave"("Волна") is more lauded, I personally do not see a fundamental difference. Although my "Wave"("Волна") looks more strong, sturdy, robust, powerful, potent, rugged and archaic.
The my "VEGA" was right next to the monitor, and I looked at the golden petals.I did not find any effect on the images of the gilded color of the diaphragm petals.
This is only my opinion and is not binding.

Sincerely, Brambling (Finch).
