Vented Hood for 35/2 (v3)

Has anyone used these 39mm vented hoods from Heavystar Photo Gear on Ebay ? I'm thinking about getting one of these for use with my 35/2 Summicron, third version. Just curious if I'd get vignetting (esp. wide open) when mounted on top of a UV filter ring.

Alternatively, anyone have a 12585 hood to sell? I think this is the proper Leica hood for my lens.

I've used the 40.5 but with a 50mm. Nicely made. Another vendor is selling them for $9 so do a search!

I have them only from the other vendor, americaneagle or american_eagle. Photos from both sellers indicate they're the same hoods.

Tests looking at the film gate with a CV 35/1.7 and this 39mm hood don't seem to show vignetting, but no negs yet, so I could be wrong.

The hoods seem good enough, probably not old-school-Nikon-tough, but they don't flex the way some do.

They also do 40.5mm for your Jupiters and, I think, 43mm, maybe 46mm. But no 49mm for the J-9.

I have used them on a 50 Jupiter both LTM and Kiev Jupiter , plus a 50 1.8 Helios and they work perfect. Highly recommended.

Just let me know. However, I am not sure this is the correct one. Size should fit according to the list: the hood is made to fit over E39 filter:size.http://www.imx.nl/photosite/leica/overview/listm.html

I just received my 39mm generic vented hood from American Eagle. It is PERFECT. Pics below of the hood on my 35/2 (v3) + BW filter. At less than $10 shipped, I highly recommend this hood. What I like most is that the back of the hood is spaced axially apart from the aperture ring, making it easier to turn the aperture ring. The 12585 hood was a perfect fit on the lens, but it was so close to the aperture ring that it sometimes got in the way. I'm going to order another one of these hoods for my penultimate 50/2 Summicron.

Just received the 39mm screw-in hood from American Eagle. Fits my 35/2 and 50/2 perfectly, appears solidily made and is quite light. Thank you for the recommendation; I just ordered 2 more.

I have the 12585 on my 'cron... I also have a couple of the Heavystar vented hoods for other lenses, and what I don't like about them is that the outer part of the hood is cylindrical and therefore obscures more of the viewfinder than the tapered Leica hood. Otherwise nicely made...

This is why I like the redleica1 tapered vented hoods... I have one on my 40 'Cron. The HeavyStar ones always look clumsy to me (I do have one around here somewhere).

The proper hood for the Summicron 35 f/2.0 would be the Leica 12504. The 12585 is appropriate for the Summicron 50 f.2.0

Does the "standard" Heavystar or American Eagle hood (as opposed to the "wide angle" hood) vignette on his 35/2 pre-asph? 🙂

not quite, but I can offer that the heavystar hood does not vignette on my summaron 35/2,8 with a UV filter on, but the redleica tapered hood does :-(

Curious to see if the wider f/2 lens would suffer vignetting, while none is observed with a f/2.8 lens.

Ben & Tom, this hood clips to the exterior groove and a filter does not affect its position on the lens.
