just found and paid for a new to me rf kit!

I was referred to a seller in japan who had a very clean canon 7 and he cla'd it for me. and then I was offered a very nice canon 35/2.8 lens...one of my all time favourite lenses...and both will soon be in the mail on their way to me.

stephen has lots of nice things to say about the canon 7, take a look at his site for the info...

I am so looking forward to this...

Never had one, but it's very pretty camera to look at. I rather miss having an RF sometimes, maybe I'll look at CameraQuest...

Joe, it's a great camera. I don't have that lens, but if it is at all comparable to the Canon 50/1.4, it will rock.

the 50 is more modern in its image making, more contrasty.
the 35/2.8 is sharp, low contrast.
I usually bump up the contrast in post processing...

I'm actually feeling more settled gear wise...an old minolta slr system...a modern fuji digital set up and now an old rf film set up...

and a winter full of snow scenes coming up to shoot!

Joe, I have the Canon 7s which for a long while I went to even more than the M2.
I looked for the 35/2.0 for a long time and couldn't find one for a sensible price so I
settled for a CV version. I'm sure you'll like yours , enjoy it and post pictures.

rocking quietly looking out the window. remember to eat and drink while the visions of the 7 bounce through your mind.

it has arrived!
it looks great…pics coming!
not sure if the meter is accurate…big bummer!
and the numbers on the meter are so small i can barely read them…with my glasses on!
had not thought about that!

Well, if the meter at least moves... I've found that setting the ISO to whatever makes it work will do in a pinch. Hopefully, it's not too far off. And there are ways to replace the meter cells in some older cameras. Good luck, Bob.

i would have gone for a canon p if i didn't want an on board meter.

Nah... the projected frame lines of the 7 are easier to see than the reflected ones in the P.
I never had good luck with that 2 stage meter though plus as you mention it's very hard to see the meter guide.
I was hoping for better success as I like the top mounted meter. You can adjust it with the camera down unlike ttl meters.

My other complaint with the 7 is that it does not hang nicely from a neck strap. The lugs are too low down and the camera tips back when hung on a strap.
Great with a wrist strap though.
I prefer the edges of the Canons and M5 over the barreled off end of the other Leica M mount cameras. Gives a meatier grip IMO.

Anyway, it looks like a very nice condition copy. Good luck and enjoy!
