With the growing use of micro four thirds cameras for video in the 2010s, users were looking for video oriented lenses that were suitable for follow-focus operation, native to that system. SLR Magic was one of the first to make cine lenses for m43, followed by Veydra.

Matt Duclos was involved in the development of the Veydra cine lens range, which included a 12mm, 16mm, 25mm and 35mm. These were well regarded, although manufactured in small batches. Disaster struck when their warehouse was robbed, and tens of thousands of dollars worth of stock was taken. The company eventually shut down after only a few years on the scene.

But not too long after, a similar lens design entered the market - Meike. It appeared that the designs and specs were appropriated by another manufacturer, and surprisingly, the quality of the Meike range was more consistent and overall better than Veydra.

Here's the story as told by Matthew Duclos.
