Hey,

I have a Summicron 40/2 lens. I was using the original filter system until a while ago when the filter wore out. As they're so hard to replace, i picked up a serie 5.5 to 39mm adapter from heavystar on ebay and got a regular 39mm filter to go on top.

I just processed some film and this combo is causing vignetting in the photographs. heavystar said he'd heard of it and i'd need a slimmer filter. anyone know where i can get a thin/silm 39mm UV filter? I only shoot in colour too.

Any help much,much appreciated!

Cheers

If you shoot colour, save yourself the money and hassle, and forget the filter. Always use a lens hood instead.

I use that very same combo; 40mm Summicron-C with Heavystar 5.5 to 39mm adapater, vented metal hood and a B+W UV filter between the adapter and hood. I've not experienced any noticeable vignetting.

after some digging around, seems the B+W filters are the thinnest of all. That's probably why you have no problems. I got my filter from heavystar as well as the adapter = problematic.

I've always used filters, guess it's a habit.
