400 is the general go to film speed, 800 if it's a bit cloudier, 200 if it's going to be insanely sunny. With modern emulsions and how forgiving they are, it's hard to mess up with 400.

I used 400 (FujiPro) and found that in London (UK), it simply cannot cope with indoors.

Portra 400 is very forgiving for over exposure, and more forgiving than most for under exposure. Ilford XP2 is also very good too.
