I recently found a Vitessa L (the f/2.8 Skopar version) at my local Goodwill in decent condition at a fair price ($50). The shutter speeds seem reasonably accurate and everything seems to be working smoothly. I'm currently working my way through a test roll of film, but so far I'm happy with it. However, I'm thinking that a little bit of TLC would be a good idea since I have no idea when it was last serviced - there's actually a servicing sticker inside the film compartment from a camera shop in L.A but it looks to be at least 30-40 years old. Is there a respected technician who does a good job on these old Vitessa's? Sort of like a DAG for the Voigtlander crowd?
And BTW, what a really pleasant surprise this camera turned out to be. I bought it for the wow factor seeing it in the goodwill case and not really knowing anything about the camera ahead of time. The plunger film advance and collapsible lens are just two really neat features in a RF. But it really is a nice shooter, the plunger becomes intuitive after 3-4 shots and the build quality is really amazing, right up there with my M and F bodies.
