Hi ...

Today I've just acquired a nice Vitessa T with the Color-Skopar 50mm lens. I thought that this has a 40.5mm filter thread and a clip in cap of that size fits OK. I have a lens hood, which I have been using on a Jupiter-8 lens, which is 40.5mm but it won't screw into the C-S. My first thought is that the thread pitch (?) is different. Any advice would be welcome.

Further to this .... I've found a Hoya 40.5mm skylight filter and that fits the lens OK and the hood will screw into that. Very strange.

This is very common. They are of the same diameter but not the same size (different height) threads. Another example would be normal 42mm filters won't fit into M42 lens bodymounts although they are of the same diameter.

I have a Bessamatic with color skopar, skoparex, and Super Dynarex, a Vitomatic IIb with color skopar, a Vito CLR also with color skopar and all the filters from the bessamatic fit all the lenses AND my two Jupiter 8. I've never saw a Vitessa T, but I don't think the filter thread will be very different...

Thanks to both of you for your comments. No problems fitting 40.5mm fittings to the Color-Skopar on my Vitessa T. It's just the one lens hood that is odd.

On another note, the Vitessa T is a very nice, well made camera and the lens are particularly good too. The 35mm Skoparet and the 100/4.8 Dynaret (see my sig... :) ) are nice if you can get hold of them.

I have a curiosity about the Vitessa T, does it have the framelines for the 35mm and 100mm lenses or external viewfinders are required?
thanks,

There are no framelines, the viewfinder is for the 50mm lens and just has the rangefinder patch in it. You can use auxilliary viewfinders such as the Voigtlander Turnit that you can see in my avatar pic. It can be turned to give either 100 or 35mm framing.
