I just GASed my self into buying a Voigtlännder Vitessa 1950-1952 with a 5cm 2,0 Ultron - not hotshoe and no meter - very smooth and beautiful camera with barndoors openeing for the lens (and sharp like a shark when closing)
Anyway - anyone out here with experience in using this devise ?- anyone with a manual ?- any good or bad advice ?-

Ruben,

Please note that the Vitessa has one design fault in its interlock system...

For most cameras, the interlock release is synchronised with the shutter release, but the Vitessa has its interlock release point beyond the shutter release travel. In other words, when you press the shutter release, don't let go straight away after the shutter runs down, but carry on pressing it down until you hear a very faint "click", then you should be alright with correct film advance and shutter operation.

Hi Ruben,

I have a Vitessa N (similar to yours - I believe) and a Vitessa T (The non-folding model) - both my Vitessas have the Colour Skopar f2.8 50mm lens. They are both great cameras to use and the Colour Skopar lens is pin sharp. I understand that the f2 Ultron lens you have is even more highly regarded. In my experience it is worth taking time to get used to the slightly unusual way in which the camera operates - once you have done this the camera is very quick to operate. I have used mine for street photography by preseting aperture, speed and focus. A very enjoyable camera to use.

I had a lovely Vitessa L with 45mm F2.8 Color-Skopar. The Ultron is supposed to be even better. My camera was refurbished by a Mr. Umbach who lived in Oriental, N.C. He put on a new bellows, repaired the shutter and aligned the rangefinder. I traded it to George Ury toward a lens I needed. Regrets! It was a great camera. The plunger is very fast, and the barn doors look great open or closed. People loved having their picture taken with this camera. Enjoy! By-the-by---It made great pics.

been shooting most weekend - a lot with the the vitessa - liked the plunger action and thumb focus - very smoth operator - unfortunatly i only had some colournegative fil - cant stand to scan it -I like black and white negative film but not colour - like colour slides - anyway I will post some pics when I get a round to scanning - I am looking foreward to se what the ultron delivers - I am amazed by the design of the camera- it is from 1959 and lokkes like something from 1965 very cool especially when you put it besides the contessa 1956 that looks like its from 1932 :)

W.W. umbach is still there, great chap to talk to and great serviceman
