Do you recall what aperture this was shot at? It looks amazing for an ultrawide...

That is a great example of a 20 test shot. Not because of the sharpness, as most new 20s are now sharp, but because of the lack spherical aberration.

It is also a very even illumination. The 21f1.8 has significantly lower vignetting than the Summilux 21f1.4. Edge distorion is very low (the Summilux might have less - but really not significantly so). Center sharpness is pretty much the same - with an edge to the Ultron.

Looks like the Cosina designers are giving Leica some serious competition! Maybe I need one of these! I'm sure I need one! Don't I?

Wow - very impressive!
I'd be really interested in how this new lens performs @ f4 compared to the current VC 21mm Pancake. Has anyone tried both? Thanks.

Count me in as being impressed with the lack of distortion, and the clarity of detail from foreground to infinity. Nice, really nice.

Oh brilliant. I just bought a Zeiss 21mm.
Aha! I see some weird colours in the far right vertical pole.
Anybody else see that or am I hallucinating?

This looks like it would be a great lens for travel photography, along a fast 50mm lens.

This is at f1.8 and 0.5 or 0.6 m. Kanazawa, Japan September 2012. Kodak Ektar 100.
Check Flickr under tag "Voigtlander Ultron 21mm f1.8 Aspherica" - close to 210 shots up there now (mostly mine - but I had a head start with this lens).

There is a very detailed review/comparison of four 21mm focal length CV 21/1.8, Leica 21/1.4, Leica 21/3.4, and Zeiss 21/2.8, http://www.ronscheffler.com/techtalk/?page_id=130. I really enjoy Ron's write-up.

thanks for posting these pics here and on Flickr. Results look very promising with some interesting quirks.
Has anyone tried this out on an RD1s?
