The new 35/1.2 V2 is in transit to CameraQuest, probably arriving by early next week or before.
Lens price is $1399. The LH-8 Hood is $109
I thought it would come in at $1299 ($100 more than V1),
but the weak dollar against a strong yen translated to a higher price.
Production is relatively limited. First shipments will probably sell out long before a 2nd production run is made. So if you are interested, I suggest not to delay your Paypal deposit of $100 to Stephen@CameraQuest.com
A few 1st version 35/1.2's are in stock at $1199.
Thanks for looking!

ooh. $1500 stings a little. Are there any sample images from the lens?

not yet, that I know of.
might be up on a Japanese site

well, either way the reduced size of lens should be nice!

The price is actually $1399, cheaper by US$101. How's that for an immediate discount!?!

I was including the hood. I'm a sucker for vented hoods.

I am too, but if VC were smarter they'd include the larger vented hood and let us all go crazy for the smaller compact hood that currently comes with it.
...actually Stephen does it even come with a hood?

no round hood included with the lens,
so the LH-8 is the only Voigtlander hood for the 35/1.2 V2.

The best camera is one that still works!
I'm looking forward to seeing some images from this lens! I barely use my V1 1.2 Nokton these days as I don't seem to need that sort of speed in a 35mm lens ... especially since I sold my M8 where the crop factor made it pretty well my ideal focal length.
Strange that it doesn't come with a hood but then again the one that came standard with the last version was a bit honky looking IMO.
Is this now officially Cosina's most expensive glass? If so $1500.00 (with hood) places it on the bottom shelf price wise in 'Leica land' but optically it should be up there with anything they (Leica) offer ... it seems expensive but really, it's not when you look around at other specialised optics!

At least most of you dont have to pay tax, as I do here in CA.

Tax would be pretty expensive. Do you have some one out of state that could buy it for you then send it to you?

Well there's a sign of the times!
I just checked the price in Oz at Mainline Photo (our CV distibutor) and it's $1255.00 AUD including GST.

wow what a great price compared to the US and European prices.
thanks also for the heads up, I was surprised that they have been released here in Oz so early. I have been waiting for this release. the question is can I wait that little longer until the first reviews/sample pics come out

Has the optical formula changed?

That's a good question-I don't know if the optical formula has changed. Certainly the glass has changed, more aspheric elements for one and maybe other changes too. Whether these differences change the way the lens renders and draws, I don't know. My guess is yes but that is why I'm waiting for the first reviews/user reports/images.
Cheers!
Cheers!
The optical formula is new, and the lens has an extra aspheric surface.
Will be interesting to see side-by-side comparison with the V1.

Less barrel distortion would be nice ... the only lens I have that distorts more than the Nokton is a 50mm f1.8 Zuiko.

Wasn't the whole idea for a new version that the optical formula HAD to change due to lack of some exotic glass?

Do you even need a hood on a modern multicoated 35mm? Hoods for 35mm are pretty shallow and ineffective anyway.

it's like what, 2mm shorter than the old one?
