Hi,
I'm new to the forum and Rangfinder cameras. I recently came across a Bessa II in a charity shop and snapped it up as price seemed too good not to. It is the Heliar with Synchro Compur shutter version.
According to the family of previous owner it had sat for 40-50 years unused. It looks in great shape but I'm guessing because of its inactivity for so long the shutter has stuck/jammed. The shutter (red arrow) is cocked in what looks to be behind a locking mechanism (green arrow). I have read that this is a common issue with these cameras and a drop of lighter fluid would do the trick but I'm not sure exactly where this goes or even if it's what's causing it to jam.
Does anyone here know of any online instructions or have any advice on how to repair this problem? I've been quoted 90€ by someone down the phone in Paris to fix it but I'd gladly give it a shot myself if it wasn't too complicated.
Thanks,
L
